Notable observations
The price spread is wider than the quality spread
Average ratings cluster tightly — most destinations sit between 9.0 and 9.6 out of 10. Average prices, by contrast, span a 6.3× range from Costa Brava (€312) to Maldives (€1980). This means destination choice has a much larger effect on cost than on guest satisfaction. If pool quality is the only variable you care about, paying the premium destinations rarely pays off in measurable rating terms.
Review volume signals destination maturity
Destinations with higher aggregate review counts (Maldives, Tenerife) tend to have more mature rental markets — meaning more property comparability, more guest data, and more reliable rating signal. Destinations with thinner review volume are not necessarily worse, but they carry more selection risk.

Sample. 130 private pool villas curated as the editorial top 10 across 13 destinations. Curation criteria include pool quality, aggregate guest ratings, location, and geographic / price-band diversity. Curation is editorial; see our editorial standards for full methodology.
Data sources. Property names, indicative starting prices, guest review counts, and aggregate ratings are drawn from public listings on Booking.com at the time of collection. Prices are starting points (“From €X/night”) and reflect property low-season indicative pricing rather than peak rates. Real prices vary by date, party size, and availability — always confirm on the booking platform.
What this dataset is not. This is not a comprehensive market survey or a statistical sample of all private pool villas at each destination. It is a curated top-10-per-destination snapshot. Findings about destination-level patterns should be read accordingly: they describe the luxury / curated end of each market rather than the full market.
Update cadence. The underlying property dataset is refreshed periodically. The analysis here will be regenerated on each refresh. Last refresh: 14 May 2026.
